PlayStation Plus: All innovations at a glance

Since the 23. June 2022 is the Playstation Plus update live in Europe. In addition to the standard PS-Plus subscription (Essential), there are now two other subscription models that offer you additional advantages: extra and premium.

In the following we tell you how much the different abomodels cost and what you get for it.

Playstation Plus Essential

The previous PS Plus subscription is now called PlayStation Plus Essential, Nothing has changed in the content . As a subscriber from PS Plus, you get essential:

  • At least two PS4 games and a PS5 game free of charge per month
  • PlayStation Plus Collection (collection of 19 PS4 games-exclusively on PS5)
  • Access to online multiplayer, PS5 game aid and Share Play
  • 100 GB Cloud memory for your scores
  • Exclusive discounts in the store
  • Exclusive cosmetic content for some games

Playstation Plus Extra

What happens to my previous PS Plus subscription?

If you already have a PS plus subscription, nothing will change for you. Your existing subscription will be converted into Playstation Plus Essentials and you keep all your advantages so far.

How can I upgrade from PS-Plus-essential to extra or premium?

If you would like to access the game library of PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium , you can easily upgrade your Essential subscription.

Upgrade process on the PS4 :

  • Click the PS Plus symbol in the menu bar
  • click on more (with the three points) in the bar in the top of the bar
  • Manage subscription
  • Change tariff

Upgrade process on the PS5 :

  • Click the PS Plus symbol in the menu bar
  • Click the three points on the top of the bar on the right
  • Manage subscription
  • Change tariff

Sony automatically calculates how much an upgrade costs for your remaining subscription period. Remember that the automatic extension is reactivated for an upgrade. You can deactivate them again in the subscription settings.
