Koen Castels is new captain of VfL Wolfsburg - KICKE
The new VfL coach Mark van Bommel had already decided to retain the Captain's secret but still to be treasured: Castels triggers the previous community of Joshua Guilavogui. Maximilian Arnold and Guilavogui act as deputy of the Belgian national goalkeeper (a country game). This will lead the VFL on Sunday (15.30 pm, live! At Guilavogui) in the DFB Cup in Regionalligist Prussian Münster as captain on the field.
The 29-year-old has graduated from 196 Bundesliga games, 178 of them for the VfL Wolfsburg, which he joined in the summer of 2015. At the end of the past season, in which the Lower Saxony qualified as a fourth for the Champions League, Castels had undergone a surgery and therefore did not stood in the Belgian squad at the Euro 2020.
Van Bommel informed his team before training on Saturday morning about his decision. He also announced the composition of the new team council. In addition to Castels, Arnold and Guilavogui, this also includes Pavao Pervan, Ridle Baku, John Anthony Brooks, Xaver Schlager and Wout Wire Horst.
